How Your Agent Can Submit a Fiction Book Proposal

Submission information

What we’re looking for:

First and foremost, wonderful storytelling—but with a deeper message that leaves the reader thinking long after the final page is turned. Our books are grounded in a Christian world view, meant to uplift, inspire, and empower.

We do not publish poetry, children/young adult/new adult fiction, speculative fiction, horror, or paranormal, and we are not looking for novellas or short stories. Books should not contain any scenes that are explicitly graphic in nature.

What to include in a book proposal:

  • A one-paragraph description of the proposed book that makes us want to read more
  • A synopsis or chapter-by-chapter outline of the book
  • Three sample chapters, up to 50 pages total
  • If book has series potential, please describe your vision for future books
  • A brief statement of why this book is what readers need right now
  • A description of your intended reader
  • Your author biography, including any relevant writing experience, awards, social media metrics, other relevant platforms you may have, and any specific plans or opportunities you have to partner with us to make your book a success

Agents should send proposals to fictionsubmissions@guideposts.org.
